The midbosses sound cool, but they are just a souped up monster so instead having 3 monsters with skills to choose from, you spend the same amount of time or less with a singular monster who also has at max 3 skills from which you can choose one each round and those skills are very straightforward. You can't pick the type of rooms and like I said, all the rooms have one singular event going on. Speaking of rooms you dungeons have only a few predetermined rooms. The traps are kinda dull since in that room, it's the only thing interacting with the enemies and they are a one-shot thing and then the heroes move on to the next room. The only outside thing influencing those monster fights is if that dungeon has a trap room before the monsters and you put in a trap that buffs the next monster party or you have an artifact which has an effect for monsters. And the skills basically vary from "do you want to do 10 fire damage, or 10 morale damage, or 10 nature damage? Single target or the whole hero group?" You can train them if you get that option for that week and have the gold, and it ads some flat stats, sometimes a passive or extra skill depending on level and type, but none of that has any variation and is predetermined for each type of monster. Your three place-able monsters have limited attacks for you to choose from each round and they die very fast, sometimes before even contributing. Games like these benefit from many moving parts to craft interlocking mechanics and to tweak with stuff to personalize events. You can have a raiding option which is just a chance for you to get gold or other resources with a chance for one or more of your monsters to be out of commission for a few weeks and these raids are just "click the button and the results get rolled" Way to few fun things happening with minimal variety. A special event which is usually getting a few gold, getting a reduced training for a monster, losing some gold or tears or blood, a monster joining or rarely getting a minor artifact. The choices range from training in which you can give each monster 1 extra level up to max level 4 if you have the resources. The gameplay loop goes week to week and each week you have 1 pick from 2 or 3 options to choose from with eventually some dungeon defense event. This all sounds fine, and is fine for a 5 dollar game, but it is such a waste of potential because this game could easily have been much much more interesting. At some point you also get a room to put in a midboss. Sometimes you get an artifact as a reward of which you can only have a limited amount which have a minor effect on monsters or traps etc. You have mostly 2 rooms to just put in your monsters (3 monsters max) 2 rooms to put a trap in and usually a room or 2 to cast a spell/hazard in. However This game has very very little to do or actually influence, hence I've used it as a semi idle game. Let me explain:įirst off the art and atmosphere are great! I love the setting and the premise. I have put in quite a few hours, but most of those were while having this as a semi idle game while doing something else and in the end I never really had that much fun.
